MODULE 2: Weekly maintenance trim

About

This course builds on what you've learnt on Module 1: The Hoof, and starts to teach you how you can care for your horse's hooves yourself. We dive a little bit deeper into hoof anatomy and function, and turn our focus on actively caring for the hooves, both internally and externally. The course teaches you all you need to know about hoof rasps: what kind there are, how to hold one, how to use one as well as how to position yourself and your horse when using a hoof rasp. Through numerous videos, photos and written instructions, you will gain a good understanding of how to rasp the toes, hoof wall and heels correctly and confidently. We will show you how to do this with and without a hoof stand. This is an invaluable skill, and a highly effective way to take your horse's hoof health to the next level. Weekly touch-up trims between professional visits have been proven to be a super effective way to improve horse's hooves. After completing this course, you will be able to carry out a maintenance hoof trim to balance the toe, hoof wall and heels, by keeping them in their anatomically correctly place between professional hoof care visits. You'll have access to the course materials in stages over an 11 week period. This is a proven study method that helps you study each lesson thoroughly, and also gives you time to practice each important step before moving to the next one.
